Steindeich lighthouse
25377 Kollmar
The tower nicknamed "Lighthouse Elbe" was built on a 1.10 m thick concrete slab behind the dike in the Elßflether Steindeich district, about 3 km southwest of Kollmar. On the spiral staircase 131 steps lead up to the former radar room. Another 14 steps lead to the former lantern room. The leading light guided ships to the mouths of the Krückau and Pinnau rivers. The fire was extinguished in 1994, when the new traffic control system on the Elbe took over the supervision. Since April 01, 1999 the lighthouse is privately owned and used as a vacation home.
