Marienstrasse
Marienstraße, a magnificent testimony to the late 1890s, was born from the vision of a man, Detlev Hinselmann, who once had a considerable fortune and property in the city. The street was created in 1897/98 with the aim of opening up new building land. The subsequent development of the newly developed plots indicates a specific clientele with a penchant for upscale living. Hinselmann used the generous dowry he had received from his wife to finance the road construction. As a sign of his gratitude and love, he named the street after her: Marie Hinselmann, born on September 27, 1873 as the daughter of brewery owner Johann Harms and his wife Ida. Marienstraße is more than just a street - it is a living monument to a bygone era, characterized by love, generosity and the pursuit of elegance. A walk along its paths is like a journey into the past, an immersion in the history and culture of the city.
