Himmelmoor

Himmelmoorchaussee 61, 25451 Quickborn

Himmelmoor, a place where silence and the untouched beauty of nature play a harmonious symphony. Here, in Schleswig-Holstein's largest raised bog, the history of peat extraction comes to life as nature weaves its own narrative. For over 250 years, the Himmelmoor was a stage for peat extraction, but since 1980, nature has taken over. Over an area of 600 hectares, it has created a refuge for rare animals and plants that makes the hearts of nature lovers beat faster. The Moor nature trail, lined with informative boards and 15 interactive stations, leads through this green paradise and tells the exciting story of the Moor. Every step on this trail is like turning a page in a fascinating history book. A ride on the historic peat train is a special experience. It offers a unique opportunity to see the Himmelmoor from a different perspective and be enchanted by its magic. Himmelmoor is worth a visit at any time of the year, but it is particularly beautiful in spring and fall. So, put on your hiking boots and discover this natural gem!
