Hetlinger ski jump
The Hetlinger Schanze is a place that combines history and views. Here you can gaze out over the Elbe, while the highest electricity pylons in Europe tower into the sky and the surrounding nature invites you to relax. In the 17th century, when Swedish troops threatened the Haseldorfer Marsch, the Hetlinger Schanze was built on a sand dune by the Danish king. Equipped with a circular rampart and four bastions, it successfully defied the Swedes. However, it lost its military relevance in the 18th century and was eventually dismantled. Today, the Hetlinger Schanze is an attractive excursion destination with a 126,000 m² beach. Here you can watch the ships on the Elbe and enjoy the warm weather on sunny days. However, swimming is not permitted due to the strong currents. A particular highlight are the impressive electricity pylons of the Elbe crossing 1 and 2. With heights of 189 meters and 227 meters, they are among the highest electricity pylons in Europe and were even the highest in the world for a long time.
