Handewitt Village Museum
The Handewitt village museum is a window into the past, offering an authentic insight into rural life in times gone by. It is located in a former schoolhouse on the Kirchberg, directly opposite the old church. Visitors can recreate the atmosphere of the past in rooms furnished true to the original, such as a kitchen, a bedroom, a hairdressing salon and a schoolroom. Old appliances, toys and tools, as well as lovingly preserved handicrafts, convey a vivid picture of domestic life and everyday village life. A special highlight is the "From Grain to Bread" project, which revives old baking traditions. The Handewitt Village Museum, which is run by the local support association, is a must for anyone interested in regional history and everyday culture. It opens its doors every second Thursday of the month from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. from May to October.
