Forest educational and adventure trail Störkathener Heide
The Störkathen Heath, a 16-hectare nature reserve, is home to the forest educational and adventure trail. This trail leads through a unique heathland landscape that has been preserved despite peat extraction in the region. The heathland is an important habitat for a variety of plants and animals, including a herd of heather sheep. These animals play a crucial role in the conservation of the heathland by preventing the growth of birch trees and thus giving the heathland plants free space to spread. The forest educational and adventure trail offers twelve interactive stations that impart knowledge about nature and invite visitors to join in. Balancing logs, a barefoot path and a throwing game are just some of the many attractions. There are also 80 information and information boards with interesting facts about the forest and heathland. The offer is rounded off by guided tours through the heathland, which provide a deeper insight into the unique flora and fauna of Störkathen Heath.
