Arnis ferry
The Arnis ferry, which runs between Arnis and Sundsacker, is more than just a means of transportation. It is a historical symbol that has connected the landscapes of Schwansen and Angeln for centuries. The ferry connection on the Schlei narrows near Arnis has been in continuous operation since 1825 and has survived various governments and administrations. It represents a unique connection between the southern bank of the Schlei in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde and the northern bank of the Schlei in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg. Since 1981, the connection has been provided by a steel cable ferry with a diesel engine. With a length of 24 meters, a width of 6 meters and a load capacity of 16 tons, the Arnis ferry can transport up to 45 passengers and 6 cars. A visit to the Arnis ferry is a must for anyone who wants to explore the historical and cultural significance of the region.
