Stadthauptmannshof

The Stadthauptmannshof played a central role in the history of Mölln. In 1359, the town of Mölln was pledged to the city of Lübeck by the dukes of Lauenburg. Lübeck thereby secured customs duties and income from the town. Above all, however, the Hanseatic city was interested in Mölln's strategic location. To secure the trade routes to the south, Lübeck developed Mölln into a "fortress on the salt road".

The ensemble, which has now been completely restored, includes the actual Stadthauptmannshof from 1414, as well as the former schoolhouse from 1860, the half-timbered row house from 1820 and the so-called medallion building from 1550. The architectural monument is used by the Duchy of Lauenburg Foundation and the Lauenburg Academy for Science and Culture for events, among other things.

Exhibitions by artists worth seeing are also regularly held in the rooms.
