St. Nicolai Neuenkirchen/ Bahrenfleth
St. Nicolai Church in Neuenkirchen / Bahrenfleth is a historical jewel on the west coast, with roots dating back to the 13th century. With its Romanesque-Gothic transitional style and the free-standing wooden bell tower, which was erected around 1750, it is an impressive testimony to times gone by. The interior of the church is dominated by simplicity and elegance. A wooden beam ceiling and white-painted walls with arched windows create a calm atmosphere. Three epitaphs and the baptismal font with its polygonal lid, a donation from the pastor Balthasar Frisius, characterize the interior of the church. A special highlight is the Johann Daniel Busch organ from 1785, a gift from the parish bailiff Thomas Ohrt. It is one of the few surviving late baroque village organs and is of great cultural and historical value. Following extensive restoration work, which was completed in 1999, it now shines in new splendor. The restoration was a major project made possible by the support of a sponsoring association and numerous donations, including from the German Foundation for Monument Protection. The rededication of the church and the organ in October 1999 was a significant event. St. Nicolai's Church in Neuenkirchen / Bahrenfleth is a place that combines history and culture in a unique way.
