Open Air Museum Molfsee - State Museum of Folklore

The Schleswig-Holstein Open Air Museum interprets the cultural history and folklore of rural areas. On the large grounds with meadows, gardens, fields and ponds, more than 70 historic buildings, farmsteads and mills from the various landscapes of Schleswig-Holstein can be seen and experienced with furniture, household goods and tools. Animals, as they were kept on the farms in former times, as well as gardens assigned to the houses complete the complex in order to convey as complete and vivid an impression as possible of the living and economic activities of past centuries. Immerse yourself in a bygone life in the countryside! Craftsmen (basket makers, blacksmiths, wood turners, potters, weavers, wood sculptors) demonstrate their activities in various buildings and sometimes sell their products. Want to know what life felt like? Why don't you try carrying heavy wooden buckets with the help of a yoke, putting a washing muffle or an old mangle into operation on one of the experience islands.
