Herbert Gerisch Foundation

On an area of 700 square metres, visitors to the Villa Wachholtz will find contemporary paintings, graphics, photography, sculptures and video art, as well as the cosy Harry-Maasz-Café. The three-hectare Harry Maasz reform garden exhibits large-scale sculptures by international and Schleswig-Holstein artists. Particularly the “Kissing Birds” by Jewish artist Menashe Kadishman (photo) are synonymous with the Herbert Gerisch Foundation: it is the first sculpture in the collection, which also served as a model for the foundation’s logo.
