Detlefsen Museum in the Brockdorff Palais
The Brockdorff Palace is now home to the Detlefsen Museum. The namesake Sönnich Detlef Friedrich Detlefsen laid the foundation stone for the museum, which is one of the oldest in Schleswig-Holstein, in 1894 with his exhibition "Collection of antiquities from the Elbe marshes".
The exhibition focuses on the history of the founding of Glückstadt and its founding father, the Danish King Christian IV. But it also focuses on the lives of the people of Glückstadt: Visitors can view the study of the writer Fritz Lau or take a look at the Döns, an old farmhouse parlor. Numerous exhibits and exhibits bear witness to the varied history of the town, which is characterized by Danish influence, agriculture and fishing. At the latest when you stand in front of the large, room-filling apothecary's cupboard, you feel as if you have been transported back many years.
